AP® Japanese

During this AP® Japanese Language and Culture APSI, you’ll explore the course framework, the exam, and the new AP® resources that will help you plan and focus instruction—and give you feedback throughout the year on the areas where individual students need additional focus. You’ll also learn about completing the digital activation process at the start of the school year that will give you immediate access to the new resources and will help ensure that your students can register for AP® Exams by the new fall deadlines.

By attending this APSI, you’ll gain deeper insight into the following key takeaways, among several others: Understand the Course; Plan the Course; Teach the Course; Assess Student Progress; and Engage as a Member of the AP® Community. In addition, specific attention will be paid to the following AP® Classroom resources: unit guides, personal progress checks, AP® teacher community, and the AP® question bank.

MOHOKO YAMAMURA

Aloha, Mihoko Yamamura is an AP® Japanese language teacher based in Texas. Mihoko earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from a university in Japan.  She initially shared her passion for teaching as a high school teacher in her home country. After moving to Texas, Mihoko acquired her teaching certification and began educating students in high schools and community colleges through imparting her knowledge of the Japanese language.

Mihoko has been teaching Advanced Placement (AP) Japanese courses since 2007, she has been a College Board member of the AP® Japanese Language and Culture Exam Development Committee from 2018 to 2023. In this capacity, she played a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum and ensuring the integrity and fairness of the examination process, thus elevating the standards of Japanese language education.

Since 2022, Mihoko has been sharing her knowledge as an AP® consultant, offering mentorship and advice to other AP® Japanese teachers, and thus playing a significant role in the educational community at large. Mihoko's efforts, both inside and outside the classroom have had an immeasurable impact on students and colleagues alike.
