During this AP Statistics @ Hawaii APSI, you’ll explore the course framework, the exam, and the new AP resources that will help you plan and focus instruction.  These resources give you feedback throughout the year on the areas where individual students need additional focus. You’ll also learn about completing the digital activation process at the start of the school year that will give you immediate access to the new resources and will help ensure that your students can register for AP Exams by the new fall deadlines.

By attending this APSI, you’ll gain deeper insight into the following key takeaways, among several others: Understand the Course; Plan the Course; Teach the Course; Assess Student Progress; and Engage as a Member of the AP Community. In addition, specific attention will be paid to the following AP Classroom resources: unit guides, personal progress checks, AP teacher community, and the AP question bank.

Aloha From Mr. Luke Wilcox! Welcome to the Second Annual Hawai‘i Advanced Placement® Summer Institute (APSI).

Luke Wilcox has 20+ years of classroom experience teaching AP Statistics at East Kentwood High School, the #1 most diverse public school in Michigan. He has been an AP Exam Reader for over 10 years and is featured in many College Board videos in AP Classroom and on the College Board YouTube channel.

Mr. Wilcox's teaching has been recognized with the 2013 Presidential Award and 2018 Michigan Teacher of the Year Award, allowing him the incredible opportunity to meet two different Presidents at the White House.

Luke believes that math education needs a revolution, from lecture-based boring to student-centered enthusiasm. Luke is the co-founder of Math Medic, a website that provides free lesson plans for teaching AP Statistics.

Luke embraces the Aloha Spirit - compassion and kindness to all with whom we cross paths in our everyday lives.
